High Chaparral is entering its fourth year as an established performer with the highest level of service from a dedicated and professional crew.
Captain - John Colvin 30
Born and bred in Perth, Western Australia, John was never far from the sea. Schooled at the prestigious Wesley College, he soon found himself cruising on his father's yacht around Australia - surviving a cyclone in the process.
John began his professional yachting career in 1996 on board the Endeavour replica sailing to Europe via the Cape of Good Hope. A stint as boat master at Hayman Island Resort on the Great Barrier Reef was followed by another tall ship adventure aboard a replica of the Duyfken sailing Indonesian waters.
John then worked on Kingdom, Pestifer and Sai Ram before joining High Chaparral as First Mate in 2005. He took over as Captain in September 2008.
Chef - Mark Hill 40
Mark was trained as a Chef in Sydney and served his apprenticeship in La Poulbot and Blue Water Grill in Bondi, before moving on to Hamilton Island as Head Chef and Menzies Hotel in Sydney as Chef Commis.
In 1998 Mark began his yachting career. He has worked to great acclaim aboard L'Escapade, Christina 0, Michaela Rose, Libertad and Pari.
Mark is the consummate professional yacht chef. He is skilled, experienced and knows where and how to get provisions in remote charter areas.
Chief Stewardess - Liz Rados 32
Liz has had a wonderful life growing up on the coast of South Africa. After finishing a diploma in Travel Management, she decided to put on her backpack and do some traveling of her own. Some of the interesting places that Liz has enjoyed venturing to are hiking in the Himalayas, going on the Trans-Mongolian train and doing a trip down to Antarctica on a Russian Icebreaker.
Liz has been in the yachting industry for 7 now and has sailed in the Bahamas, New England, Caribbean, Alaska, Central America and the Mediterranean. She has worked on extremely busy charter yachts and enjoys meeting new people.
Chief Officer - Rob Shove 32
Rob was born into a sailing family in the South West of England and happily discovered
yachting at eighteen whilst traveling about the world. Since then, working on yachts has funded his way through University and taken him the world over. After a brief return to land based work in London, Rob returned to yachting and concentrated on gaining his Chief Mate qualification.
2nd Chef - Paul Burwood 26
Paul is from Perth, Western Australia and has worked in the Restaurant and Cafe industry for the last eight years. Having completed his apprenticeship, he worked at a beach resort in the Kimberly's for several seasons. On returning home he opened a cafe patisserie with his family which he ran for two years. Paul made the decision to come to Europe and try yachting, he has been with High Chaparral ever since.
2nd Stewardess - Olivia Rossetti 27
Olivia grew up in a picturesque coastal town in the South West of England. Olivia joined High Chaparral after two years on board the mega yacht Pelorus. There her initiative soon saw her in a more senior position on the interior of this elegant vessel.
Liv is a qualified PADI Rescue and Nitrox diver and has dived some of the finest sites in the world.
Chief Engineer - Kenn Plowman 52
Kenn has a background in commercial and naval engineering. Originally from the East coast of Australia, Kenn has traveled extensively aboard his own small sailing yacht and on commercial sailing vessels around the world. His other interests include flying light aircraft, and Formula 1.
Boson - Ben Gilmore 27
Ben grew up in both the South of France and in England. He first went to sea as a Galley Hand at the age of seventeen and in the following years worked on a number of yachts helping to finance his further education. Having graduated from University Ben has sought to further a career in yachting, and having recently attained his Officer's qualifications.
Stewardess - Ruby Mitchell 24
Ruby was brought up on the beautiful coastline of the North Island of New Zealand. Ruby has worked in the yachting industry for the last two years and loves the new adventures which come with life on a boat.
Stewardess - Fiona Davis 23
Fiona has always loved the sea, growing up in New Zealand - the ocean was an important part of her childhood. Joining the Yachting industry 2 years ago has reaffirmed her love for the sea, combined with travel makes this, the perfect job for her.
Deckhand - Scott James 29
Scott was born in New Zealand where the ocean and sports played a defining role in his life. Having completed a Degree in History and Political Science, Scott worked for three years as the head of sport at a private boy's school and has attained the qualification of
Yacht Master.
Deckhand - Dan Morgan 29
Dan grew up in the coastal town of Port Stevens, Australia where the ocean played an important part in his daily life of surfing, fishing and wakeboarding. Dan
has recently come into yachting and is looking forward to combining his love for the water and desire to see new places.
